Hard Work's Earnings

For the longest time, I have wanted to go to college. Honestly, I think whenever I first heard about going to university, I wanted to go. I was probably three or four years old, and I have been counting down decades, years, months, and now, even days!

But one thing has to happen before you can start out on an adventure like that.

You have to work.

When I was 11, I got my first "job". I was a babysitter. For the next 7 years, I would babysit families all over the town, especially for those in my ward, or for family friends. I earned a pretty good amount of money from doing that, and I am so thankful for all that babysitting has taught me. A lot of good homemaking skills and skills about being a mother are taught to you when you babysit.

When I was 16, I got my first real job at my town's local fast food restaurant, "Dairy Keen: Home of the Train". I have worked there ever since, and I have also earned a lot of money, but more than the money, I have gained a lot of skills--especially how to work with people.

Neither of these jobs are very glamorous, but they were so worth it, now that I look back on it. I didn't realize how necessary having a job was to my social growth as a human being, and I am so grateful I did them.

These past few months, getting ready for going to college is expensive, but I have my savings that have taken 7 years to accumulate. I think I really am almost done with all my college shopping--at least in Heber. There will be things I need to buy in Rexburg that will have to wait until we're there, but for now, I think I'm pretty much done!

One exciting purchase I just made was a brand new laptop! This is my very first blog on my very first laptop! How exciting is that? :)

Well, if you want a countdown of days until I leave, here it is:

56 days!

Yay!!!
